Baby JB

My new nephew, JB, was born on September 30, at noon!!! He was 6.5 lbs and 19 inches. Mommy sis and baby J are doing just wonderfully!

We've already been able to see the little guy on Skype (have I mentioned what a wonderful invention that is???). However, since simple things like using the internet take on a multitude of complexities in the Caribbean, we were only able to see our new addition to the family while all huddled in the front seat of our teeny car while parked outside of the local mall foodcourt, where evidently, you can get free WiFi service.

Lucky for us, the signal carried into the car park. With the laptop poised on the dash, we all intently watched the little guy on the screen even though he was 2000 miles away in his birth hospital. Passersby were peeking into our car, probably wondering what we were looking at. Interestingly, even though we were packed in pretty uncomfortably, the boys were mesmerized with their new cousin, even when baby J didn't do much but lay there. They just quietly watched him and whispered "look at the baby." While my sis tried to get him to open his eyes to peruse his new extended family, we oooohhhhh'd and aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh'd all the way from the Caribbean sea to get his attention, but the little guy was not impressed. He remained out like a light.

I guess he was a bit tired after a long day of being born.
