Determination

I didn't even plan the D titles but now I am kind of fond of it, so we'll see how long we can keep it up.

I am feeling a sense of self-determination quietly enter into my life. It has been a while since I have felt this way and it is such a relief. I have been thinking about medicine for so long. My choices in undergrad, graduate, career, and volunteer work have all centered around the passion I have for becoming a physician. Somewhere in this application process, I lost that spark I had. The rejections, one after the other, again and again. It really hit me hard - I did not expect that I would have that degree of difficulty being accepted.

Yet, I did.

Thus, my determination was replaced by resignation in the one area of my life that I was completely sure of - to be a clinician. In some ways, I handle uncertainty better - a testament to my years of parenting, which is one long training on how to expect the unexpected.

My opportunity at SGU will shape the rest of my life. I am invigorated thinking about school and I am going to do everything I can to ensure that I am successful.

Hope springs.

We have our Mom to thank for all that determination. Oh, and before you leave, don't forget to instruct the boys on proper centipeded handling techniques :)
