2 Down

Two weeks, two classes, two finals.

Genetics and parasitology - fun and intense. I was studying a la finals mode the entire time. While I am sad two of my favorite classes are over, I was reminded just how amazing life is.  At its most fundamental level, every living thing uses the same genetic code. From bugs, to people, to fish, to protozoa, we are all derived from that basic template. How we get to be a human vs a worm that can whip out her uterus on a whim is just mind boggling. Not to mention amazingly cool.

On to neuroscience and physiology. Add a little preventive medicine and immunology and I would say this term is going to be challenging.

On a sad note, one of my study partners has to re-take a 1st term class, so she was not allowed to continue on to second term. I was amazingly grateful to her last term for the marathon biochem sessions we had right down to the wire. I don't think I would have made it through that class without them. Thinking more about last term also reminded me that just having motivation and knowledge are not going to guarantee my success in medical school. Organization, and especially starting this term, integration will be critical for me to continue to advance. Thus, while my little group is getting smaller, a BIG thank you to A. You will be missed!
